Manfred Kurschner tells me that Desio has brought along several key members of his team from Mail Boxes Etc.

I see this as a VERY bullish indicator for this little start-up. These guys know how to grow a business, and they have proved it. DeSio has a reputation as one of the best franchisers around.

Other items of note:

1. The pilot study of mall-based kiosks in shopping malls in England was a huge success. The figure I heard was about $70,000 per unit, per month in revenues.

2. They hired a top-flight web site designer to overhaul their internet home page (God knows they need it!)

3. An initial advertisement will appear in IBD and several financial publications in the coming days.

4. DeSio has a number of interviews (about 20) in the weeks ahead, including one with Sports Illustrated (There is apparently a very big business in enlarging your favorite sports hero to give to Johnny for Christmes.)

5. First US franchise is slated to open in California before year's end. They have a track record of growing these things exponentially.

6. They have already done about $500k in business this year, again, with exponential growth ahead.

7. DeSio himself says he can get this thing going with minimal capital infusion. Expects to be able to grow independently on incoming revenues without additional financings after early '99.

This is indeed a very compelling story. I'm hooked.
