The economy is flat now knowing interest rates will be lower next year with the anticipation of Trumps new fed chairman. Why would businesses expand now when almost for certain rates will be lower if not much lower next year?

Plus, new plants are well underway and will be completed in 2026 contruction

Facilities Expected to Be Operational or in Progress by 2026
Several companies have made specific timelines for their U.S. manufacturing plans, many of which involve activity in 2026:
  • Apple: A 250,000-square-foot factory in Houston for building AI servers is scheduled to open in 2026.
  • Toyota: An $88 million investment in their West Virginia plant is expected to start producing hybrid transaxles in late 2026.
  • ABB: Investments across four U.S. facilities are set to bring new assembly lines and test centers online in 2026.
  • Mars: As part of a $2 billion additional investment plan, facilities for Royal Canin and Nature's Bakery are among five new factories Mars has added, some of which are expected to continue expansion through the end of 2026.
  • AstraZeneca: The company is investing $3.5 billion to expand its R&D and manufacturing footprint by the end of 2026.
  • Stellantis: The automaker is re-opening a plant in Belvidere, Illinois, with plans to make midsize trucks there starting in 2027, meaning construction and retooling will be well underway in 2026.
