Cold fronts can drop snow in high altitude areas like Elkford and the Coquihalla just about any time of the year. I remember a surprise snowfall while hiking in Kootenay Park north of Elkford in the middle of August. We had to camp in a different spot than we had planned that night, but fortunately it soon melted.

The cool weather and precip has helped with the fire situation in BC -- we are down to under 80 fires burning in the province right now -- but the underlying droughts are still there, depending on what happens through the rest of the summer, which is predicted to be hot and dry, alas.
