The bunker buster(s) necessary to damage Fordow weigh 30 tons, not 15 tons as the article suggests. The only vehicle stealthy capable of carrying and delivering such a heavy load is the B-2 bomber which only the US possesses. Also, of course, B-52s.

Putting a B-2 at risk is dicey. Whether the Iranian air defenses have been degraded enough to make Iranian air space safe for a B-2 is unknown. A big lumbering unstealthy B-52 might be at substantial risk.

We really do not know how degraded the Iranian air defenses are. However, I would imagine that some sort of air defenses steps have been taken to protect Fordow.

It is likely that these issues are being hotly debated at the White House as we speak.

It is a hugely difficult decision for Trump. And this is the reason he is trying to get into the mullah’s head by suggesting that he could be killed on a whim. A surrender would obviate the need to bomb Fodrow, a mission whose success is not guaranteed.
