Ralf, saw your post and tend to agree with your approach picking stocks. I like to invest in oversold stocks a) not much downside risk b) room to move up. The problem is it may take a while for others to recognize the stock's value and bid it up: patience required.
In tech stocks I recently purchased two. KLAC meets your W formation. FSII looks to have made a bottom. Both are sound companies thrown out with the tech sector. I work at HWP, if the stock drops to or thru 87.50 I will be buying. HWP is a strong company with aggressive management and strong prospects in many areas of technology.
Do you do any technical analysis with your stock picking? I use charting and technical analysis (stochastics, MACD, moving averages, trendlines ) to initially select my stocks then I look at the fundamentals for the company or group. Also as you suggest in your post, the 'big picture' too. Which way is the general market headed and what is the 30 year bond doing? Wasn't Friday's action interesting, can't wait for Monday's open, I think this is just a correction which will scatter the chickens.
See ya, Ron
