BYD Energy Storage, a unit of Chinese conglomerate BYD, has launched what it claims to be its first integrated storage system for residential applications.

The Battery-Box HVE system is being sold in combination with either a single-phase hybrid inverter or a three-phase device.

The storage system is available in two versions with capacities of 4.29 kWh and 6.45 kWh. The smallest model measures 345 mm x 660 mm x 140 mm and has a weight of 42.1 kg, while the largest system has a size of 499 mm x 660 mm x 140 mm and weighs 61.1 kg.

“Within the innovative design of the Battery-Box HVE, these two module types can be combined in a single tower,” the manufacturer said in a statement. “The smallest possible system configuration starts at 6.4 kWh. With up to 4 modules in one tower, a maximum capacity of 23.6 kWh can be reached in a single-tower configuration. Up to three of these towers can be connected in parallel, allowing for a total capacity of 70.92 kWh – when three towers are connected in parallel.”

As for the IP66-rated inverters, the single-phase device is called Power-Box SH and has an output ranging from 3 kW to 6 kW, with a charging and discharging current of 35 A. It purportedly has 200% peak output power and a maximum efficiency of 97.7%.

The three-phase inverter is dubbed Power-Box TH and has an output of 5 kW to 15 kW, with maximum efficiency reaching 98.2%. “It is very reliable and can also provide full backup functionality with 150% peak output power and a backup switch time of less than 10 ms,” the manufacturer said.

The new products come with a 15-year warranty.

“The new BYD Battery-Box HVE solution combination will be available from the end of June across the European market,” BYD stated. “An additional new product for the European market will be introduced in Q2 of 2025.”
