Interesting. I never expected any real character depth in those writers or Bradbury for that matter. I look for them to create interesting situations in odd places then spin out what might happen, like clever puzzle makers. I hardly read fiction now except works that I am teaching, so I don't really have a lane to stick in. If I ever get around to reading the Foundation trilogy again, I will either last 30 minutes or all the way through again. FWIW, I tried to watch the new Dune movies and barely lasted any time at all. Unbearably stiff and dull. But I wouldn't be interested in rereading those books anyway.
