I grew up on a steady diet of Asimov and Clarke novels. I guess I didn't have enough literary discernment to know that I wasn't supposed to enjoy them.

The TV series had the evil, violent emperor, our sexy young heroes, lots of space special effects, etc. I'd rather go back and reread the trilogy sometime.

I once taught "The Gods Themselves" for fun. Asimov had taken the criticism to heart that he never wrote about sex or aliens, so he did that time in a lighthearted way.

The TV version of Foundation was just too far away from what I recalled and had visualized before.
