This is the quote.

Yes, sure. If you look at our Greater China revenue for the quarter, we were down 11% year-over-year. And over half of the decline that we experienced was driven by change in channel inventory from the beginning to the end of the quarter.

The problem is that he's comparing YoY revenue changes and then comparing it to the QoQ inventory changes. This is the kind of comp you use when you want to shade the data. I would need to know the normal inventory change from the end of September to the end of December to decide whether this was a positive.

Despite the Chinese New Year, Apple sells far fewer iPhones in China in the March quarter than the December quarter so inventory is supposed to be lower.

March quarter should be better because of the national subsidies and possibly the launch of the new iPhone SE but I do think that Apple has a real structural issue in China. Maybe this is due to the lack of Apple Intelligence in China but I am deeply skeptical of that explanation.
