Given what's happened in the AI space over the past weekend (namely, DeepSeek), I'd say it was very savvy (or fortunate?) of Apple not to have poured gazillions into LLM development like its Big Tech cousins. Now, it can go back to the table with OpenAI and negotiate for lower costs ;-)

One more thing: Because DeepSeek is a Chinese company (and therefore CCP/PRC approved), Apple could solve its AI-not-available problem in China by working with the company.
