Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META) is planning to spend $60B to $65B to build out the company's artificial intelligence infrastructure, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said through his official account in a Facebook post Friday.

The social media and tech giant CEO said his company is going to build a 2GW+ data center "that would cover a significant part of Manhattan." The data center will bring online about 1GW of computing power this year, and the company expects to end 2025 with more than 1.3 million GPUs at its disposal.

"This will be a defining year for AI. In 2025, I expect Meta AI will be the leading assistant, serving more than 1 billion people; Llama 4 will become the leading state-of-the-art model, and we'll build an AI engineer that will start contributing increasing amounts of code to our R&D efforts," Zuckerberg said in his post.

Zuckerberg said in the post that the company has the funds to continue investing in AI infrastructure in the years ahead and expects the effort to drive core products and business.

Shares of NVIDIA ( NVDA), Taiwan Semiconductor ( TSM), and Arista Networks ( ANET) reacted to the announcement but retreated to flattish levels.
