I have heard the rumblings about China. But Apple has had incentives before on its phones at this time of year if I am remembering correctly.

These aren't Apple incentives. China is giving a 15% rebate to consumers for devices below 6000 Yuan as a stimulus for the economy. As of today, the only iPhone 16 that would qualify is the base version with 128GBs of memory. Every other model is above the threshold for the subsidy.

OTOH, this should help Apple Watch and iPad sales.

I would have thought if Apple was doing as poorly in China as some have been reporting, then they should have warned about the quarter(unless it was already priced into the guidance for the quarter).

I don't have an explanation, but there is enough data that I do believe that Apple is having real issues with the iPhone sales in China. Maybe ex-China sales are doing particularly well? Like I said, Cirrus Logic hasn't warned either and Apple hardware is a bigger percentage of their sales than it is Apple's.

But, then again, neither have the Apple bulls.The thing that has been very positive for Apple is their margin growth. That has enabled earning to be reasonable.

The margins have been amazing and the relentless share buyback has meant continued earnings growth. However, a big chunk of Apple's gains over the last few years has simply been a rerating of the multiple.
