I posted about this before at length, about 4,5 days ago..quote below..

SPD will not grow in autos from a "pull demand"...Reviews/posts won't matter much. Auto companies have known for years SPD is far superior to pdlc. Posters saying what they already know won't matter much ... SPD will grow with "push" not "pull" demand..as smart glass grows auto makers will choose which to use, once a maker in mid priced takes SPD to offer a better product to present a better car then it will grow more. Other makers will want to keep up and if in midpriced it shows it was cost effective for that model... Maybe a split market for a bit of time with SPD taking over more with time...(all we need is a car or two for big gains anyway with such a low valuation but much more may come as smartglass grows in autos over time)....if it is a split market SPD will always have a spot and the lesser one may be phased out, doesnt work the other way around in tech in almost all cases. A midpriced SPD car may come any day as we know.

..Price has to be in line for makers to offer SPD..all the posts saying SPD is better and pdlc bad wont matter if it is not cost effective ...good thing is ferrari, cadillac and mclaren went this way over pdlc...just need to crack midpriced, first one the toughest and means the most... Joe has been saying cost is down for SPD glass. This is what is needed for SPD to grow more...

Many posts on spd better than pdlc etc. may minimally help make makers decide it is worth a higher cost but I doubt makers analyze posts much about smartglass roof types plus it is information they already know..I do think makers understand consumers are becoming more aware of smartglass as there are so many glass roofs which is good, and makers know which tech is best, this matters and they know it does.

....Good to see consumers posting though, it just confirms more the superiority of SPD and how pdlc lacks in major areas, light and heat, these posts show what makers know as well.....As I said before, makers getting away with pdlc for now cause they can, I believe that will change with smartglass growth, people compare every aspect on cars when spending 50-80k on a new car, these factors add up, a better smartglass roof is a factor that will be counted among other features when choosing a car to buy or option to add. It also looks better in promos, review videos etc for the maker, pdlc looks like haze, fog, milk and too bright, it is opaque though!! ha... Reputation is key for makers and they would prefer to be associated with a better product if cost is not much higher than an inferior one.

They know price and specs. each time when deciding on what smartglass to choose of the 3 types of smartglass, i assure that....pricing changes though but they will always know price and specs each time when choosing.

Key was glass roofs growing in autos, Ive posted that on here since 2021 and it has grown a lot since then, thanks Tesla for that with all cars with glass roofs...That may end up the reason for big success for refr, Tesla going with all glass roofs and so many copying with glass roofs/large pano glass.

Hopefully, an army of Chris Hilberts ?/s emerge and get the true value proposition conversation started... or the 'mid market car' jolts the industry to have another look at SPD pricing....
