When the routine starts to update each app, there is a disclaimer by Microsoft saying that they're not responsible for updates to third-party programs they don't license. That seems reasonable to me.

What I like about it is that it's the same thing my antivirus program does for a fee and because I forget to update some of my programs that don't give me a pop-up to do so.

re. your concerns, I can't guarantee that any particular update can't cause a problem. Doing a registry backup first might be a good precaution.
