On the Kenya-Tanzania Border, an Elephant Hunting Ban Has Collapsed - The New York Times (archive.ph)

Reminds me of a local story a few years back. A prominent business man disclosed in a newspaper interview that he was an avid big game hunter with lots of “trophies” to prove it. Big mistake on his part. The locals went after him with “guns” bigger than the ones he used for hunting including boycotting some of his businesses. Eventually he pledged to give up his hobby and donated a rather large sum to some wildlife conservation group.
