This week ithe contest performance is “pong” in opposition to last week’s “ping”. Biotech indices lost ground, with the S&P biotech composite dipping back into the red YTD.

Looking at the individual stocks, NVAX (+52%). has its third straight week atop the week’s return leader boards. This moves them past JSPR into second for ,YTD returns (+220%). We saw raised expectations for all the vaccination stocks stoked by the increase in the bird-flu contagion in livestock.

Which might also explain MNRA’s second place finish for the week, +34%. They are in talks with Pfizer about the manufacture of a bird flu vaccine.

JSPR is in third for the week, +11% of their original price. Not good enough to keep NVAX from overtaking them YTD. And down at fifth for the week, CU6.AX only paid +8.7% for the week, but that was good enough to make the fifth spot in the YTD rankings.

The worst for the week was BCAB. Apparently Thursday’s release of Phase one trial results showing 10 or more months of patient survivability, wasn’t enough for them to drop -46%, most of it on Friday.

Second worst was VKTX, -23%. No real news, but a lot of analyst chatter which has followed them since their brekout. It is *still* in first YTD, +240% ahead of surging NVAX (+220%). If these trends continue we will see a new top dog on the YTD list.

The contestant average portfolio dropped -$3.3k, though we still have an average YTD in the black, +$6.4k. Only five portfolios were in the black for the week, but ten are sill in profit YTD.

Given NVAX’s recent run, it is no surprise that TOMATO, the only portfolio holding NVAX, is number one for the weekly returns.+$4.1k, moving into third YTD (+$29k). DEW _DILIGENCE was third for the week, +$2.1k, enough to claw their way back onto the YTD winner’s list in sixth. JACK HARTMANN had the last profitable return for the week, +$430, enough to move up a spot to fifth, with YTD ($12.6k). BULBAMAN;s Aussie proclivities to hold CU6.AX in his portfolio, which by itself put +$1.7k into his pocket. Not enough to balance the VKTX loss of -$3.4k, to be profitable for the week (-$3k) still was the sixth place portfolio for the week. And even though the week was a loss, BLADERUNNER’s week was worse (-$9.1k), which widened the gap between them and BULBAMAN to $30k (YTD), keeping BULBAMAN in first YTD (+$66k), BLADERUNNER second (+$36k).
