AI Roundup...

A sudden awareness emerging as progress is occurring in AI, the public finding out about it, first, even before most analysts became aware... due to the viral sensation in ChatGPT's spectacular introduction... (fastest rate of adoption of any new technology in history) which is driving the investor interest.

But, there are not really a lot of names in the space... yet... only four "AI pure plays" in smaller companies... AI, SOUN, GFAI, BBAI... a few more names (with many more to come) if you add in one of the primary expected impacts of AI in use... in enabling robotics... and, otherwise... find it interesting that AMZN is being left off lists that include... MSFT, GOOG, NVDA.

Look at AMZN's AWS pages... and (last I looked) they were looking for people to work with them on AI projects... and providing access to tools and free training in the how to... because... there's not a huge base of AI aware employees out there lurking about ? It's already looking like what the web and dot.com bubble created in demand for people capable of doing a bit of work with .html ?

There should be easy adds to the list in a couple of names of companies that are working on providing computer and network security... many that already have AI built in... but, forgot to put in it their names and tickers, and didn't focus on it much in product related PR... before the Chat GPT phenomena erupted. Expect to see changes being made there... soon... and don't be too shocked to see companies continuing to do what they do... adding "AI" into their names... and suddenly becoming hot stocks...

Also, a couple of Funds that might make sense in "being early" and having management already focused in the area... notably... Ark Funds with ARKQ are already there...

And, then... expect Dot.com Bubble II... with janitors off the street suddenly becoming AI company CEO's ?

For now, at least... that seems... less likely. But, like the Dot.Com Bubble I... that could happen again... as a function of people innovating and figuring out new uses for the generative AI tools... just as Dot.com's figured out new uses for the internet in commerce... that didn't really require much technical expertise...

That "web enabled commerce" ever got labelled as "tech"... still annoying to a "real" tech guy... but, that won't stop "the markets" from failing to notice, again, that someone using ChatGPT... isn't an AI guru... while not being wrong that if they CAN figure out how to make $ from it in new ways... its worth paying attention to...

Pay attention to Raul Paul's warnings... both because... "get in early" on the right stocks going into a bubble can be rewarding... but, also because... probably not wrong about the impact being hugely deflationary...

That might be a "long term impact"... in robots replacing workers faster than they have been... but, don't overlook the potential of ChatGPT and similar apps... proving useful enough that a lot of people's jobs are made expendable a lot more quickly than anyone expects is possible...

And that might well require some rethinking about "where things are headed" in the economy, generally... and in the markets, in particular... as the disruption of a new technology might shake foundations... and wipe out profits... in a lot of businesses that don't see it coming... while a massive deflationary impulse and declining profits isn't likely to "help the Fed dig out of the hole its in" ? So, watch the pace of adoption in the new applications... but, don't expect Robots will take over the world, and put everyone out of work, this year...

But if you're hoping for a long career as a burger flipper... make new plans... and look out for the IPO of that new Roboburger franchise... that I've been planning for a couple of years...
