This past week I had 7 stocks up and 11 down, but my portfolio was little changed.
I’ve come to realize over the last months that most of my best performers have been sold off and I now have many more losers than winners. I have stuck with Ted’s teachings that one should never sell a stock at a loss. His idea was that almost all stocks bought by his method of assessment would eventually go up – it just might take a long time to happen. But what does one do when he realizes that he has a good deal of money tied up in losing stocks and is now hesitant to increase his exposure in order to add more stocks to the portfolio in hopes of gaining some new winners? My inclination is to clean house and rebuild the portfolio.
