If it was not for the resurrection of Jesus, there would be no Christian faith, no Gospels, no Apostle Paul, in fact, no New Testament at all.
Without the resurrection, Jesus's death would not have been for our sins nor of any benefit to anyone. He'd be like everyone else who died, with his remains decaying in the ground.
That's what the disciples would have thought, that is until they started hearing strange things they didn't believe at first. Some of their own group were insisting that his tomb they saw him placed in and sealed with a big rock was open and empty, and that he appeared to some of them that Sunday morning after Passover.
Then Jesus Himself appeared to them in his resurrected human flesh, saying, It is I, see my hands and feet, handle me and see I'm not a spirit, then he ate some food they had. He appeared not once, or twice to them but quite a few times, one time to a group of 500 of them, over the next 40 days. Finally they watched him rise up from them on the Mount of Olives into the clouds with a promise He'd be coming back.
After that his Spirit came into them, they started telling everyone about this resurrected Man who died for the sins of the world. Slowly a church began forming around this message, spreading throughout the world.
That's where we are in history - between the two comings of the Son of God who has become a man. When He returns, He will become the ruler of a new age of mankind that will never end.
So, don't go looking around for the right politician, scientist, inventor, philosopher or economist to solve this world's mess, look up. The answer for earth was never here on the earth, but in Heaven where Christ is, still saving people who repent and believe his Gospel from their sins before He comes back to judge the living, and the dead, for how they lived the life God had given them. |
