I try not to buy anything built anywhere. I'm typing this on a pretty old Chinese Mac I don't want to upgrade, it does everything I need fine except to run modern browsers. I've long resisted Apple and Google's forced upgrading.

But you are correct, and the problem is not just China and India, its also Africa which is rapidly industrializing and has a lot of oil it wants to sell.

I do not see a solution to these problems. I personally think carbon credits are a cop out and ineffective.

I'm just trying to position myself to survive the coming disasters... and I'm not at all sure I'll be successful. I see wealthy people trying to position themselves too, buying up land I see as more survivable. For example in my target area land within 100 ft of sea level is still cheap as is land 50 miles inland. Land in the rainshade has gone up considerably.

I also don't want to think of myself as someone who caused the problem, so I've been conserving more than other people for decades. I tore out my lawn 40 years ago as I saw water being a problem in California even then. I missed out on San Diego City landscape subsidies because of it. I don't think I've conserved nearly enough to be successful about not causing the problem. Like most people in America I'm caught up in working... I'm terrified of being homeless in this harsh unforgiving country.
