While I consider today's NAS market to be way overpriced, I'd really like to have about 20TB of SSD in one. I think there are bus problems preventing that with M.2, but you'd know more about that than I do.
The more recent servers we put in have been SSDs and they scream. I've been using mirroring with one or two hot spares. I have one that's been running for 3.5 years with that configuration which may be a record for one of our servers. And the hot spares have not yet been touched (although we did have a bad sector, the RAID marked it went on).
I guess we'll know in a year or two lol.
