All Tesla's (except for the original Roadster) come with a smart charging cable so you can charge your car from just about any 120 VAC or 240 VAC outlet. Various adapters snap on the wall end of the cable to use a conventional 120 VAC 15 to 20 amp outlet up to various 240 VAC outlets.

It took me a couple hours to wire up two NEMA 1450 outlets in the garage and the car can charge at 40 amps at 240 VAC. That's good for a charge rate of about 28 miles per hour.

Out of an ordinary 120 VAC outlet the car limits the charge rate to 12 amps for safety purposes which gives you about 3 miles per hour of charging with my 100D Model S.
