People say that's the creative destruction of capitalism. If something you're doing is no longer profitable you use your buildings, capital and labor to do something which is profitable.

Politically you can decide to assist those affected by the increasingly frequent transitions or you can ignore them or even demonize them as no longer useful parasites.

Ancient Egypt valued stability above all else. None of their technology or culture changed significantly for 5,000 years. Very impressive if stability is what you value above all else.

I think most people would say they want a world somewhere between these extremes, but some would not. These are all political decisions.
