KPN Trials LTE-M IoT; to be on Live Network by end of 2017
2 December 2016 As the first operator in Europe, KPN said that it has successfully trialed the new Internet of Things (IoT) technology LTE-M, which is also known as LTE Cat-M1. COMMENT: It stands to reason that additional chipsets were trialed and certified at a later time. ZTE has been a longtime network partner to KPN and has a NB-IoT chip with plans for LTE-M. Also, EU has a goal of 20% marketshare in global IC production, thus an EU - designed IC is likely included in trials by default, if not also under law.
