|The Economist in its prediction issue says 'Techlash' is a coming trend. |
--Backlash against big tech companies
three forces will help swing "the pendulum of power" back towards the state and away from markets:
"Across the rich world, politicians will turn on the technology giants — Facebook, Google and Amazon in particular — saddling them with fines, regulation and a tougher interpretation of competition rules. It will be the 21st-century equivalent of the antitrust era, with the tech giants vilified as malevolent quasi-monopolists whose behavior is weakening democracy, suppressing competition and destroying jobs. ... The pace will be set by the European Union ... But it is in America that the techlash will seem most dramatic."
In light of the US Gov't ending 'net neutrality' it will be interesting to see if that gets reversed in 'techlash.'
Question remains whether governments will bring digital currencies into some kind of legal status where
they can be tracked and taxed...
