MEF 2017 Award - Proof of Concept
A 2017 MEF Proof of Concept Award will be given to recognize the PoC demonstration that best showcases agile, assured and orchestrated services delivered across a global ecosystem of automated networks. A panel of judges will review the demonstrations and grade them on innovation, demonstration quality, and alignment with MEF’s work and vision.
- Infinera MEF17 Software Defined Capacity Showcase: The Infinera MEF17 Software Defined Capacity showcase demonstrates flexible creation and automated delivery of the Third Network leveraging MEF 55 Lifecycle service orchestration with dynamic, on-demand software activation of optical capacity for Carrier Ethernet 2.0 services.
The showcase will demonstrate how operators can create new, on-demand MEF services to drive revenue growth. Our showcase also highlights the operational benefits of automated provisioning and multilayer optimization enabled by an open source SDN control platform integrated into a robust LSO environment. Technological innovations in multilayer path computation, API development and microservices-based architecture will be demonstrated.
- Layer 1 Multi-vendor LSO: Windstream, Ciena, Infinera and Coriant will showcase Layer 1 multi-vendor LSO utilizing PCE via the Windstream commercial network. The business objective is to demonstrate Windstream’s leadership in deploying a widely available commercial offering that leverages SDN multi-vendor orchestration.
- LSO SOF Topology Engine: A key component in the implementation of any layered and abstracted network management solution is the implementation of a topology. Topology by itself is valuable in that it provides a verification of the graph representing the bearer plane of a service and corresponding network path or potential set of paths. Topology is the cornerstone for enabling fault isolation and root cause analysis. This POC demonstrates a LSO SOF layer Topology Engine.
