There appears to be a big push in the web ad industry for websites to add a file "ads.txt" to their web root. This file lists the authorized ad networks for a site. The purpose and goal is to make it impossible for these malware distributors to monetize hijacked browsers. If they show you an ad, the network won't pay them.
We are in the process of rolling out this change here. For good measure, in the interim and based upon these reports from you folks, we've asked our partners to block ads originating from the content.ad network - although, if malware is the cause, at least in the interim before our full deployment of this new counter-measure, this might not do any good.
