Indeed. This time will be different, or at least, slightly different. On the B2C

3GPP is, as always, in cahoots with the operators and they will continue to circle their wagons

Operators will continue to sell voice and messaging and they will push for more diversification into other areas to compensate for the decreasing revenue from voice and messaging

While that is happening, consumers want the content:

The monetization side, aka OTT, wants more data to runs to and from the customers.

The operators's side want to maximize revenue as they carry the costs of Build Operate and Maintain he networks.

Enters B2B
All the IOT hoopla is mostly B2B. An operator has to morph into a different animal to be able to take part of that revenue,

Once we look at the infrastructure that will underlies all that, plus edge computing Cloud etc the picture takes a very complex form
