BYD Electronic Chooses Red Bend's Mobile Software Management for its Handset Modules

Jun 24, 2011 10:03:00 (ET)

BEIJING, Jun 24, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Red Bend Software, the market leader in Mobile Software Management (MSM) with more than 1 billion Red Bend-Enabled(TM) mobile devices, today announced that BYD Electronic Company Limited of China, a leading manufacturer of mobile handset components and modules, has licensed Red Bend's vRapid Mobile(R) firmware over-the-air (FOTA) updating solution and vDirect Mobile(R) device management software for use in its products.

BYD Electronic (stock code:0285.HK), a subsidiary of BYD Company Ltd. (stock code:1211.HK), a leading developer of IT products, automobiles and new energy, chose to integrate Red Bend's software into its mobile handset modules to meet the growing demand from mobile operators for solutions that can help them manage subscribers' mobile devices easily and cost-effectively.

"Our embedded mobile software management solutions enable BYD and other customers worldwide to accurately and efficiently deliver over-the-air firmware and software updates to their modules, said Danny Wang, country manager of Greater China for Red Bend Software. "Those Red Bend-Enabled modules help device manufacturers and network operators satisfy consumers and build brand loyalty. We are excited to continue working with BYD to bring more FOTA-enabled mobile devices to the Chinese market."

Red Bend's vRapid Mobile enables mobile manufacturers and operators to create efficient firmware updates for mobile phones and other wireless devices and to install the updates over the air rapidly and with complete reliability. vRapid Mobile is the only FOTA solution to perform firmware updates in the background, without interrupting consumers as they use their phones to talk, text, search the Internet and more. It helps improve mobile user satisfaction by enabling delivery of new features and performance improvements to phones easily and conveniently, which strengthens customer loyalty and boosts revenue per subscriber.

Red Bend's vDirect Mobile is an OMA-DM-compliant and interoperable device management client for mobile phones and wireless devices. It is used to provision new subscribers, configure applications and network settings, manage software, retrieve device information and deliver firmware updates over the air.
