Eureka! Sayonara Windows Explorer ... Hello xplorer² (x²) for Win7

I commented a few weeks back that the conflict caused by Avanquest's PowerDesk 7 (the original PowerDesk being the XTree successor years ago that I've used for most of this decade in its various releases since migrating from Norton Navigator) File Manager marred my brief Vista experience and as I complete my migration to Win7 on partitioned dual disk drives and a partitioned external drive, having to work in Explorer (the Windows file manager for dummies) was a royal PITB. Ain't no way I could have lived with just Explorer for one more week.

I downloaded the relatively new Win7 capable version of xplorer² Pro's trial version yesterday ...

... and it sure simplifies my life and would have made the last week more pleasant. There is also a free 'Lite' version available, but I'm about to purchase the full x² Pro version at a modest $29.95 as soon as I assure myself of no conflicts.

I'll have more to say about x2 in the near future. My initial reaction to x² Pro is very positive, but because it is even more powerful than PowerDesk, there will likely be a learning curve to tap into its full functionality.

Haven't made use of it yet (and not sure I'll keep it) but I also just added the 'xplorer2 toolbar' to Firefox 3.5, my default browser.

I've been in the Try & Decide mode of Acronis True Image 2010 for the last 36 hours or so and it is sure a nice security blanket that gives one a warm and fuzy feeling when adding on new and untried software to a new platform. This week I've rolled back changes several times using it.
