Chairman Edward Lampert hasn’t posted a same-store sales increase since he combined the Sears and Kmart chains in 2005.

At some point that has to change. Sears needs a new image. Target managed to position itself as a semi-chic alternative to Walmart, though repositioning Sears may be a challenge. Repositioning Kmart is probably impossible.
