"Change" has become meaningless political jargon just like politicians used to run on peace. Reagan finally topped them all when he had an MX Missile he liked to call the "Peace Keeper". Every politician runs on peace and every politician means a peace that comes with conquering, subjugating, or subduing. Not exactly an ideal usage for the word.

Change is an easy platform and just as popular as peace especially when everyone is fed up with the status quo. Every politician is going to run on "change" now as if nothing would happen if they didn't change it. The geopolitical and domestic atmosphere will be very different in a few years, so who ever is elected will be able to claim it was all their doing. Any legitimate claim to a platform of change should be founded upon operational plans to accomplish something purposeful and beneficial, not simply change for the sake of being different.
