|There certainly is church doctrine and false doctrine. I was pleased to recently have my beliefs confirmed by Irenaeus a second century disciple who wrote a couple books which survive intact today. It was good to read his writing and see that we were in agreement after spanning such a large chunk of time, 1800 years. If we are taught by the same Holy Spirit then we should agree! Irenaeus was a disciple of Polycarp who was a disciple of the Apostle John who wrote the gospel of John, 3 letters of John, and Revelation. Irenaeus also wrote 5 books called "Against Heresies" exposing the 2nd century cults like Gnosticism for being heresies.|
You bring up that "socialist" label again. I don't support Edwards. I've told you many times I've quit voting because it's all a deception. Edwards had one idea I liked and I said something about it.
Think about the first century church that held everything in common and distributed according to need. Was that socialism? How about the garden of Eden and its abundance freely given to man? No sweating for it, it was a gift. Christians today will spend a few dollars to feed starving children on another continent but they turn their backs on brothers in need in their own church. They don't invite them over. There is social status and snobbery. The well off class that shuns those in need in their own church. Jesus COMMANDED that we love one another but Christians don't! They are faking it. That's a doctrine, "This I COMMAND you, that you love one another". Jesus said that to US, the followers of Jesus! America is about greed and possessions. How many Christians are hard hearted towards brothers in need. Not everyone has the same abilities. We are told to associate with the lowly. There is a sickness of greed in the American church today. America is passing away. There will be no America or stock market in the kingdom of heaven. Don't be fooled by the form of things today!
