That's what I read also in relation to AMTD.

Prior to this crash in Etrade there were articles that indicated AMTD might buy Etrade. Looked at it as a possibility and was trying to decide whether to speculate on this as a merger possibility by buying E-Trade.

Decided not to. Thank God for intuition as I saw no signs as to why not to buy e-trade---------wasn't thinking about the mortgage exposure.

My online account is with AMTD. I will call and ask.

A general comment, online trading and bank accounts definitely have their risk. We are gradually being forced into doing business this way as electronic transfers are replacing checks. Example, my computer system was down last week-----if AMTD had not had the capability of telephone quotes and trading I not have been able to access the account.
The telephone system actually works very well once one learns how to use it.
