Company Expands Its Intellectual Property Portfolio Into The FOTA Market

(Nasdaq: SMSI), a company that markets and develops a wide range of wireless software and services, announced today that it was issued U.S. Patent No. 7210,010, "Efficient System and Method for Updating a Memory Device" by the U.S Patent and Trademark Office. The '010 patent covers methods of remotely updating an electronic device with an update package via a public network. The award of this patent boosts Smith Micro's Insignia product line as the leader in FOTA solutions for the wireless market.
The invention described in the patent relates generally to the field of computer systems, and more specifically to systems and methods for updating a data image stored in a non-volatile memory device, such as a flash memory.
