ALISO VIEJO, Calif., Feb. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Smith Micro Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMSI), a leading developer and marketer of wireless communications, today announced it has been selected to provide its new QuickLink Music software to Pelephone Communications, Ltd., an Israel-based, leading cellular communications provider. Pelephone, as Israel's first operator, pioneered the company's cellular communications revolution, resulting in one of the world's highest market penetrations of mobile phones.

Pelephone will distribute QuickLink Music with a new line of music-capable handsets, bringing to market Israel's first mobile music service. The intuitive music manager will offer Pelephone subscribers complete control over downloading and managing music on their PC, as well as transferring music files to and from their mobile phones. Customers will also be able to use QuickLink Music to "rip" and "burn" music CD's.

With QuickLink Music -- end users can:

* Quickly set up the music manager application to transfer music files
to the mobile phone.
* Download music files to the PC from the carrier's on-line music
services.
* Organize the music library directly from the PC -- allowing the user
to create play lists, view and organize songs by genre/artist/etc.
* Automatically sync songs to mobile phone.
* Monitor the phone's internal and removable memory providing the user
complete control over storage space on the mobile phone.

Commenting on the introduction of QuickLink Music in Israel, William W. Smith, Jr., President and CEO of Smith Micro Software said: "This partnership reflects our ability to service the growing multimedia market in the Middle East. We recognize the importance of understanding the dynamics of the Israeli mobile market and are very excited at the opportunity to feature our QuickLink Music technology to Pelephone's expanding subscriber base."

Music-capable mobile phones have evolved very quickly, now offering broadband-speed wireless Internet access, robust software capable of playing almost any form of multimedia, easy access to large music stores and rapidly-expanding memory and processing capabilities. Taken together with the other needs today's phones already satisfy -- imaging, messaging and voice -- it is clear that mobile phones may be poised as the next evolutionary step in mobile music.

"We are excited to add music services to the growing list of our new product combination. We believe QuickLink Music will help us achieve our goals to lead the 3G category in the Israeli market and to increase mobile handset sales as our subscribers upgrade to new, music-capable mobile devices," said Schraga Mor, Content and Products Division Manager at Pelephone Communications.

Smith Micro's QuickLink Music is a new category of entertainment and content management software for wireless carriers and device manufacturers. The company has extensive experience developing innovative software solutions for the wireless industry. Its leading-edge products simplify communications over both Wireless Wide Area Networks (WWANs) and Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs).
