I think that HT 3.0 will do best for 8S servers because with HT link splitting, an 8S box has 28 direct CPU to CPU links and 8 links for I/O available. That means any core is, at most, only one hop from any other core or ODMC. You can also use 6 of those to form a 3D mesh clustering 8S nodes using the 1 meter capacitive interconnect of HT 3.0. Such a system would be useful in making poor man's supercomputers. Otherwise 8 8/8 HT links is 64GB/s of I/O at 2GHz HT clock.
