The only reason why people are against DRM is because they want to illegally copy music or movies.
There may be cases of 'fair use' that may not be possible with DRM'ed media, but we should realise that these media are just that: media.
The area where I live entered 2006 with the introduction of digital TV. Our cable provider provides a closed box in order to prevent digital copies of the programs they provide (especially for their video-on-demand and pay-tv movie channels). Although I don't really like that (I'd like to use a media center pc instead of a settop box), from a usage perspective, the settopbox gives me legal access to anything I might like to see thanks to the extensive video-on-demand functionality it provides. I don't need no DVD media anymore.
Next year (2007), more of the same in HD. Both Blue-Ray and HD-DVD will become irrelevant as the video-on-demand or near video-on-demand (PVR's) gets more widespread. And Hollywood will make sure we pay for the services they provide.
