QuickLogic Continues Its Focus on Low-Power Portable Applications by Joining SD Card and CE-ATA Organizations Tuesday August 16, 8:01 am ET
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 16, 2005--QuickLogic Corporation (Nasdaq:QUIK - News) QuickLogic's Comprehensive Low-Power Solution Includes Software, Hardware, Partners and Now Standards QuickLogic and Industry Consortium Share in the Goal of Providing Solutions to Power-Sensitive Portable Consumer Products That Include Smart Phones, PDAs, Portable Media Players, and GPS Handhelds QuickLogic Corporation (Nasdaq:QUIK - News), the low power programmable logic leader, today announced it has joined both the SD Card Association and the CE-ATA Organization. The SD Card and CE-ATA groups develop low-power bus and form factor standards for memory, networking and storage peripherals that will be adopted into portable consumer products. By joining these groups, QuickLogic enhances its low-power ecosystem that includes Eclipse II FPGAs, PowerAware software and strong industry partners.
"QuickLogic has demonstrated industry leadership by providing ultra low-power FPGA solutions for power-sensitive, portable products," said Kevin Yee, Director of Business Development. "We are extending our commitment to portable consumer products through our membership in the SD Card and CE-ATA organization, and we believe that through our membership, we can share our expertise in dealing with power issues while simultaneously gathering additional information on how to better serve our customers."
QuickLogic introduced its first family of uWatt programmable bridges earlier this year to provide efficient Wi-Fi and hard disk drive connectivity for users of embedded processors including Intel's PXA product family. In addition to providing the desired interfaces, the programmable nature of the devices enables a high degree of customization, providing opportunities to perform sophisticated power management, reduce the loading on the main processor and securely implement content authentication logic.
About SD Card Association and CE-ATA
The SD Card Association (www.sdcard.org) aims to establish the technical and specification standards for SD Memory Card applications, to continuously promote the SD memory card as the de-facto industry standard, and to encourage the development of digital A/V, wireless communication, and digital networking products that utilize the many unique benefits of SD technology.
Leading industry consumer and storage companies are spearheading the CE-ATA initiative (www.ce-ata.org) to define a storage interface tailored to the needs of the handheld and consumer electronics (CE) market segments. The objective of the initiative is to define a standard interface for small form factor disk drives that addresses the requirements of the handheld and CE market segments, including low pin count, low voltage, power efficiency, cost effectiveness, and integration efficiency.
