I recently went driving with buddy in a Landrover Defender 110 turbo diesel, and we were using 100% vegetable oil left over from fast food chains, collected, heated up, purified, had chemicals added to the mix, and then stored in large tanks.

The SUV did fine in power, acceleration, speed, etc.

The cost was USD 2.64 per gallon, a very reasonable price.

No engine conversion was necessary for using 100% mixture.

Other folks were using it in a 80/20 mix (diesel/vegeoil) due to some silly company fleet regulation.
