I got some nice fish breeding at work. African Cichlids called Yellow Labidichromis (http://www.cichlidae.com/articles/a188.php) and something new Marble Convicts (http://www.ekkwill.com/marbleconvict.html). The Yellow Labs are mouthbreeders, after the eggs hatch the female holds the babies in her mouth for a few weeks. I noticed a whole bunch of females had babies in their mouths so I moved them to their own tank. The timing was perfect a day later one or two of them released babies. The babies are hiding in crevices in the rocks but they don't have much to worry about. The Mom's w/ babies don't eat and we keep the Mom's who dropped their kids really well fed. For now I don't want to disturb the tank but as more Mom's spit put their kids I'll start removing them.

Convicts are easy to breed and not worth much, but Marble Convicts are new and cool so they sell for at least double the price of regular Convicts. Usually when they breed in the store it's the last few that are left so they're nothing special but this time I got an outstanding batch, I picked the nicest 16 out of 100 so this pair is choice. ~80 eggs hatched Wed. so they'll be free swimming on Sat.
