At the hight of Abassid families, the opted to be ruled by Persians, Parts, Byzentines, Omyeds, Abbassid, Dylams of the Caspian Sea, the Salguiks of central asia, Mongols, Turco-Tatars, ttomans, and the English.
I guess they can not rule themselves.
Mind you, some people think exactly the same thing about the Jews: Jews always thrived as the flunkeys of the powerful, homeless, wandering caterers of gentile princes or Muslim sheiks... They don't need a homeland --their trades and crafts make up the Jewish fatherland....
