In many cases it's true that there's no practical alternative to Windows.

But to me, the most unfortunate part is that it's NOT true in many, many more cases than people think, even in corporate situations where a costly switch would pay for itself many times over in long-term TCO--regardless of how many bogus MSFT-funded studies to the contrary are published. Herd mentality wins.

Apple stock's doing mighty well. MSFT as it stands is dead money forever. If it paid a 5% dividend it would be just fine.
