There is so much chauvinistic patriotism among Iraq war proponents -- its very disappointing.
Many have no idea that over half of the forces currently in Afghanistan are non-US (not counting the Afghanis themselves) serving under the International Security Assistance Forces.
The initial assault, Operation Enduring Freedom, had significant participation including equipment, materiel and thousands upon thousands of soldiers from Germany, France, Canada, Britain, Italy, Japan, Denmark, Holland, Norway, New Zealand and no doubt others that I can't remember. This was a real international coalition, reflecting in the acceptance by the international community of the clear legitimacy of the mission.
Iraq is quite another matter. |
