The concept of a hegemenous (sp), united EU as a world power is another casualty of this war. With some EU countries supporting the war and some opposing it, with France reportedly threatening Turkey that it would not be allowed to join the EU for a generation if it allowed US ground forces to use Turkish soil for ground troops moving into Iraq, Europe is splintered, and won't recover for at least a generation.
