Sun Java adventure.

Did a new install of XP professional over the weekend and when I went to my first Java page on Explorer received this message:

We're sorry. Automatic installation of Microsoft Virtual Machine is no longer provided for Microsoft Windows XP.

microsoft.com

This wasn't the case last time I installed but Sun has always said that their JVM was better than Microsoft's so I went over to Sun looking for a download.

After a while I found my way to Get the Java plug-in for Windows XP. Download here.

java.sun.com

Downloaded and installed the plug-in and went back to my Java page and found out it was a mess. It works but I had to set my SETI priority to low and the cursor was blinking like a defective neon sign even on non Java Windows.

Went back to Microsoft and used the search to find the JVM here:

microsoft.com

Installed it and everything is back to normal but if this is all Sun cares to produce after all these years Java is in trouble.
