Hi Thure- I started running SETI Friday night and kept adding systems from components I had accumulated. Now I'm running 5 systems 24/7. It's quite a challenge.

A7M266 XP 1700+ @ 1.5GHz {3:12/wu}
A7M266 T-Bird 1.33GHz @ 1.5GHz {4:00/wu}
A7M266 T-Bird 1.2GHz @ 1.2GHz {5:07/wu}
K7S5A T-Bird 1.2GHz @ 1.25GHz {5:20/wu}
A7V133 T-Bird 1.0GHz @ 1.0GHz {6:16/wu}

SETI is all about computer power and AMD is the champion of cheap power. I can't see how anyone could afford or care to do this with Intel systems as they are currently constituted.

I just keep on running and fine tuning to increase the throughput. The XP processor is fantastic. 20% faster than its T-Bird counterpart at the same clock speed. I just ordered a second XP 1500+ to throw into the mix.

I intend to try Linux to see if it will increase throughput further. Right now I've resurrected an AMD 386DX-40 with accompanying 387DX-40 math coprocessor. That was state of the art 10 years ago. Actually it's quite quick now, all 20mb's of it as I'm installing Win95.

Fun and games.

Here are my SETI stats:

setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu@ameritech.net&cmd=user_stats_new

Passed 2,700,000 members since Saturday. Only 800,000 to go. Slowing down though as I'm entering "hard core" territory.

Harvey
