I'm using the SUSE Linux 7.3 distribution.

Comes with a good installation and reference manual.

I downloaded StarOffice 6 Beta. Works great.

I also use the KDE desktop. Its such a relief to have a real
OS running underneath. In particular because any level of control is at your fingertips (if you can write code that is). At least its available and documented. Also, I find the user community to have a better sense of humor and generally more intelligent.
