|Electro-Optic Material Pioneer Dr. Larry Dalton Joins KVH Advisory Board|

MIDDLETOWN, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 16, 2000--KVH Industries KVHI announced today that Dr. Larry R. Dalton, professor of chemistry and engineering at both the University of Washington and University of Southern California, has joined the company's Advisory Board. In his new position, Dr. Dalton will provide scientific and technical guidance to KVH's staff in the development of fiber optic components for high-speed optical networking.
Dr. Dalton is best known for development of electro-optic modulators made from organic molecules called chromophores. These devices translate electrical signals used by telephones, computers, televisions, radar and other devices into optical transmissions. They operate at very high bandwidths, up to 100 gigahertz, and at very low power levels, below one volt. In addition, they offer easier integration and lower cost than today's lithium niobate modulators.
