T has massive (and passive) institutional share ownership (entities like Harvard University endowment fund, the Ford Foundation, etc.)

These shareholders often lend their securities (in return for some compensation) to Wall Street firms, who need them for their short-selling clients.

Maurice's "short busting" idea with Globalstar (GSTRF) is different, and might just work -- since it is likely that most GSTRF shares are held by people like us (SI fanatics) (and -- small shareholders).

Jon.
